Feature & Follow

It’s that time again! Welcome to Feature & Follow hosted by Parajunkee’s View. I am a multi-hat-wearing blogger. I have a day job as an adjunct at a local college, I write Urban Fantasy (or currently am writing), I'm a mother, a book lover and a blog enthusiast. I read across genre lines, but have been focusing my efforts lately on YA Fantasy, Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance.

Q: Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?)

Ah, what a wonderful question. There are just so many I could choose from. However, I believe I'll pick Moon Called by Patricia Briggs.

This book here opened my eyes to new genres. Prior to reading this, I steered far, far away from anything remotely fantasy. Vampires? Werewolves? Blech. I wanted nothing to do with them. But I was struck by the cover of Bone Crossed (book 4 in the Mercy Thompson series). Don't judge a book by it's cover? Well I did. And I have never regretted it. Not only did I find a deep-seeded love for Urban Fantasy, but I've branched off into Paranormal Romance and YA fantasy! I just can't get enough. Beyond that, this book inspired me to pick up a pen (okay, who writes with a pen these days..it was a computer, but that doesn't sound the same) and start writing my novel. No, it's not published...it's not done yet! But it IS an Urban Fantasy novel. I don't know that I would have ever had the desire to write a novel if it weren't for Patricia Briggs. So...if you haven't read the series yet...get to it! I've read the entire series...oh, about 5 times.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Can't wait to see what your answers are!
